MARIA PIA FRANZONI TOMBA

Illustrator Maria Pia Franzoni Tomba, born in Macerata, Italy, 1902-died Castelletto Ticino, Italy, 1978. She signed her illustrations "Mariapia". She is considered the greatest Italian illustrator of books and a myriad of publications aimed at children, from the 1930s to the 1950s. The stories, in addition to the beautiful illustrations, had educational and moral purposes.
